When Netflix secured the rights to a range of Roald Dahl’s books, back in 2019, the iconic Wonka bar was chosen to represent both brands coming together in the announcement video. The logo featured in the bar had to be uniquely new, something that leaned towards Wonka’s heritage but was different enough from logos owned by other rights holders. The inspiration for the design came from Joseph Schindelman’s factory gates illustration, in the first edition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from 1964.
