Limited edition set of Roald Dahl's beloved children's classic, Matilda. Matilda & The Miracle Child is a celebration of child power.

Yet Roald Dahl’s famous story - as well as its two main protagonists, the child genius Matilda and the evil headmistress Miss Trunchbull - went through many versions before arriving at their final incarnations. Using a wealth of visual archival material, the set explores the process of how the story, the concept and the characters evolved and how Matilda became a manual for self-empowerment.

The set comprises a folio box containing two prints with personalised calligraphy, and two books: ‘Matilda’, features the original story by Roald Dahl with illustrations by Quentin Blake. The other, ‘The Miracle Child’, was designed in-house with narrative by Donald Sturrock, and contains special archive materials such as story drafts, letters and sketches, split into a section for each character.

Paper stocks in a mixture of colour, weight and texture are used to define the contexts and characters within the book.

This project was shortlisted for D&AD Awards, book design category, in 2022.
